Today

It was a really interesting week, this last, punctuated by some things that I can not yet talk about yet and also by some things that I can and should. Pertaining to the former, I had the unique opportunity to take some time away from the norm, see some things I’ve not seen before, and think.  (Un?)Fortunately, I didn’t have the presence of mind to bring much to do along the way, so I didn’t have the chance to watch some of the movies that have been gathering dust, waiting to be returned to ye olde Blockbuster.  But that provided the opportunity to dwell a bit on where I am in life’s journey and forced me to find center again, Read more…

This Post Left Intentionally Blank

Antonio B, David, Alex, Robert, Antonio D, Jim, Surendra, Mark, and Regis: I had a great time with you guys.  Thanks so much for your time!  I had an awesome day.  Here’s hoping we’ll be seeing more of each other!  =;)

An Interview with Scott Stapp

I know, I’m 3 years late, but I just now found this interesting interview with Creed’s lead singer.  One snippit that caught my eye was this: So, are you now a “Christian artist,” or an artist who happens to be a Christian? Stapp: I’m an artist who’s a Christian, because I don’t write music to be evangelical. Now, if that happens, it happens. My dad’s a dentist, and he’s a Christian. Now, does he put in Christian fillings? No, that’s just part of his three-dimensional life. Now, there are people that are Christian artists, because they have a purpose to be evangelical for Christ. I don’t feel I’ve been called to that yet. Now, that could change. There’s no telling Read more…

Not to leave the room, even if you come and get ‘im.

At least there’s always Monty Python when you’re having a rough day: Son: Ah…ah know. But I want the girl that I marry to have… a certain…*special*…something… King: Cut that out!! Cut that out…. You’re marryin’ Princess Lucky, so you’d better get used to the idea! GUARDS!!! Make sure the prince doesn’t leave this room until I come and get ‘im. Guard 1: Not to leave the room, even if you come and get ‘im. Guard 2: *Hic* King: Nono…. *Until* I come and get him. Guard 1: Until you come and get him, we’re not to enter the room. King: Nono, no… You *stay* in the room, and make sure *he* doesn’t leave. Guard 1: And you’ll come and Read more…

We are living in the science fiction we grew up with

I just got an e-mail from one of my best friends, who profoundly stated:  I was removing my SD card from one slot and putting it in another, when I realized this was shown on the original Star Trek over 40 years ago. We are living in the science fiction we grew up with. So true, SuperDataMan!!  =:)

Good Morning, Vietnam^WPlanetKDE!

Greetings and salutations. And thanks to Chris for adding me to the planet. =:) As an aside, there must be a cooler way of introducing oneself to an aggregator, but having wasted 10 minutes of my life trying to think of one (and not having actually come up with anything clevererer), I’ll relegate myself to looking like a doofus and stick a big “Hi, my name is” adhesive tag on my forehead…. Hi. My name is Jason ‘vanRijn’ Kasper. The Kasper part comes from a rich Austrian heritage that I have documented somewhere in a closet. The Jason part my parents decided to slap on me for no good reason, other than that they must have foreseen the Friday the Read more…

And Now, Introducing… Linda Kasper!

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is with great pleasure that I introduce to you, my darling bride. People, this is my bride, Linda. Linda, this is the world. =:) Unfortunately for Lynn, she married a real geek (that’s me). Now, don’t get me wrong, there’s good sides and bad sides to that. Good sides being that I’m devilishly handsome, quick-witted, smarter than a box of hammers, and vastly rich. *snicker* Bad sides being that I’m occasionally less than clueful about putting my darling bride at the top of my list where she belongs. We’ve had several… um… discussions about said problem, and she’s right… I have rarely mentioned her in my blog. In the past, I’ve tried to keep my blog Read more…

I’s Feelin’ Mighty Low

I don’t think I’ve felt this low in a long, long time. In a lot of ways. I know that this is not helped in the slightest by the fact that my darling bride has given me some kind of flu thing and that I’ve spent the last 24 hours in aching pain, horking up my lungs. Speaking of which, words cannot possibly express the horror that is vomiting. Like Jerry, I had one heck of a no-vomit streak going. It must have been at least 20 years. Seriously. But between the be-gifted flu (which has now spread to my poor, wonderful daughters and I fully expect to spread to my son in the next day), and the astoundingly horribly Read more…
