The sad state of music

I found this ExtremeTech article looking at where the state of the state is for online music. I was very impressed with the approach they took in the article. Most reviews like this are completely Microsoft or Apple-centric and ignore the fact that there is a large user community that refuse (or can’t afford) to use these two operating environments. Billy Joel : I had forgotten how much I remembered

I happened to be on a date this evening with my lovely bride and my eldest beautiful daughter, and happened also to hear The River of Dreams by Billy Joel. I had forgotten how good he is. I think my favorite Billy Joel album is The Bridge. Probably partly because during my high school years, the girl that had captured my heart loved “This is the time” (and mentioned it in the yearbook (Hi Allison)), and partly because my Dad and I used to listen to the tape while we worked out, and partly because it is just a plain-old really-good album. mark knopfler – shangri-la

I really dig Mark Knopfler’s music. Maybe I’m getting old and sedentary. *shrug* At any rate, his new CD is very good, if you’re into this kind of music, imho. And I always have been. Loved Brothers in Arms. I particularly like “boom like that”, “song for sonny liston”, and “postcards from paraguay”. Man, I sure hope I don’t start liking country music when I get old and senile. If I do, someone please shoot me with my Airzooka.
